Want to find out more about local women’s role in the Suffrage movement? Stevenage Museum and partners have an exciting programme starting this summer funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF). Get involved in research, including trips, here are the dates (all Tuesdays during the school holidays):

The Garden City Collection - 31 July

North Hertfordshire Museum - 7 August

The Museum of London - 14 August

The Women’s Library at the London School of Economics - 21 August

Knebworth House and archive - 28 August

Uncover the stories of local women like Constance Lytton from Knebworth, Ellen Cross who went to school in Stevenage, Elizabeth Impey from Hitchin and Jane Short who lived in Letchworth and was imprisoned for arson and then force fed.

Help write exhibition text, share your findings via social media, work with an artist to devise an installation and plan events.
